What protective entity best protects valuable technology patents, trademarks and other intellectual property?

For many people – and particularly businesses – their patents,
trademarks, copyrights, domain addresses, customer lists, formulas and
other intellectual property are their most important and valuable assets.
We have our clients title these accounts to one or more LLCs or LPs, and
then license the rights to use these assets to one or more of their operating
companies. It’s never wise to directly title these valuable assets
to your operating company or to yourself personally as these assets can
then be lost if you or your business are successfully sued. Our preference
is to use a Nevis or Cook Island LLC to hold intellectual property. These
international entities not only creditor shelter these assets but insure
privacy not available through domestic entities.
