What about safe deposit boxes? Is there a better option than to rent one in your own name?

Creditors sometimes check the ownership and contents of safe deposit boxes. If your box contains anything worthwhile, don’t keep the safe deposit box in your own name. It’s best to rent it instead through a corporation or LLC. For more privacy, one shouldn’t be the officer or manager of the entity. Nominee firms are available for this purpose. Also don’t hold the key to the safe deposit box as creditors invariably ask about this.
