We often ‘layer’ the protection of our clients’ investments.
For example, we may title the investments to a limited partnership. The
limited partnership is then owned by an IAPT as the limited partner. The
IAPT, in turn, invests these funds through a Nevis or Cook Island LLC
as its subsidiary. Finally, the LLC may buy an international annuity or
self-protected investment portfolio. This provides four layers of protection
and, of course,
very well insulated funds. We can design hundreds of different layering possibilities.
But how far we go to protect one’s investments depends on how much
protection they need.
